The Postgraduate Program (M.Sc.) serves the mission and scientific orientation of the Department of Midwifery at the International Hellenic University (I.H.U.) and is integrated into the strategic planning of the I.H.U.
PURPOSE
Its aim is to provide postgraduate-level knowledge, education, scientific background, and expertise in modern fields of Midwifery Science and, more specifically, Reproductive Health, with emphasis on childbirth and midwifery care during the transition to parenthood—that is, the period before conception, pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and breastfeeding.
Specifically, it focuses on the biological, physical, psychological, and social preparation of prospective parents for the arrival of their child, ensuring the most ideal and safest conditions for the newborn. It includes programs of preparation, health promotion, prevention, early diagnosis, and management of potentially hazardous conditions (such as endocrine disorders, sexually transmitted infections, mental health issues, etc.) and complications during the reproductive years.
